Tentative Business Meeting Agenda for AAR/SBL 2017

Once again the AASR will be holding a business meeting at the annual AAR/SBL Conference. This year the conference is in Boston, USA from 18-21 November 2017. See below for the tentative agenda and the details for the sessions that are sponsored by the AASR. If you have any additions, please contact the General Secretary, Corey Williams.

  3. Discussion: adding ‘Diaspora’ to the name the AASR. Suggestion: Association for the Study of the Religions of Africa and its Diaspora (ASRAD).
  4. Lusaka Conference: 1-4 August 2018. Discuss ideas for involving young scholars.

The African Association for the Study of Religions is delighted to endorse the nomination of Professor Jacob Olupona for Vice President of the American Academy of Religion. We encourage our members to vote for Professor Olupona in the current ballot that has been sent out by the AAR.

As a founding leader of the Association, Professor Olupona has worked diligently to promote the study of African and African Diaspora Religions at the AAR and throughout the world.
